The StingRay StarFire was intentionally designed to maximize top speed by shifting its trailing edge to reduce drag and extending its wingtips to improve in-flight stabilization. Some competing hydrofoil models actually feature the reverse design (a curved trailing edge coupled with shortened wingtips) which reduces stabilization and increases drag, thus lowering top speed.
