The choice of anodes is very important to protect your boat from its environment. They protect the submerged metal parts of your boat from corrosion.
Extend the life of parts in contact with water by installing high-quality anodes in strategic locations (near the propeller, propeller shaft, rudder, helm, hull, etc.).
Choosing the material for your boat's anodes
Choose your anodes according to their intended use.
- Zinc anodes are designed for use in salt water.
- Aluminum anodes provide better protection than zinc (higher hydroelectric potential), are more efficient, and are environmentally friendly in all types of water as they are non-polluting (no cadmium).
- Magnesium anodes are reserved for boats sailing in fresh water.
It is recommended that you change the anodes once a year or as soon as they have lost 75% of their mass to prevent premature deterioration of your boat's metal parts. If you notice that your anodes are not deteriorating, they are probably not positioned correctly.
